Simon Cowell delayed filming on US 'X Factor' so he could have breakfast on Tuesday.

The music mogul was on his way to auditions in Greensboro, North Carolina, when he asked his driver to pull over at Jake's Diner so he could try traditional American corn porridge grits with fried potatoes and beans, leaving the other judges Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid - who was particularly mad - waiting for 45 minutes as he ate.

A source told RadarOnline.com: ''One minute Simon was on his way to the Coliseum and auditions were about to start - the next thing security was radioing over that Simon had diverted the driver and asked to go to a local diner.''

Although his last minute dining decision held up the day's schedule, Simon made the other judges - L.A. Reid, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato - happy by bringing a doggy bag of leftovers.

Britney did not hesitate to try some and helped him finish off the last few morsels.

Auditions for the second series of US 'X Factor' are now complete and the 'Toxic' singer is very excited about the next phase of the competition.

She wrote on twitter: ''Wow can't believe @TheXFactorUSA auditions are over. So much FUN ... bring on boot camp! @ddlovato @la_reid @simoncowell (sic).''
