Snoop Lion (aka Snoop Dogg) - Talks Frank Ocean and Gay Rappers
The rapper once known as Snoop Dogg has evolved into Snoop Lion and recently talked to TMZ about the evolution of gays and their possible acceptance into rap music.
Snoop's observation - it ain't happening anytime soon.
While Snoop Lion says he has no problem with gays or gay marriage, he believes that rap music is far too macho to allow it into the rap culture.
Snoop was quizzed on the acceptance of Frank Ocean by the rap community a British newspaper and corrected the reporter about the style of music Frank sings.
"Frank Ocean ain't no rapper. He's a singer. It's acceptable in the singing world, but in the rap world I don't know if it will ever be acceptable because rap is so masculine."
He continues, "It's like a football team. You can't be in a locker room full of motherf----g tough-ass dudes, then all of a sudden say, 'Hey, man, I like you.' You know, that's going to be tough."
Snoop earlier made it clear that he has "no issues" with gay marriage.
The rapper spoke in favor of equality as the US Supreme Court debates California's ban on same-sex weddings, adding people should be free to do "as they please".
He told the Huffington Post: "People can do what they want and as they please ... Satisfy yourself accordingly.
"I have no issues with nobody, I live for me and I live my life doing what I do, so you should have the right to do whatever you want to do."
The 41-year-old musician - who embraced Rastafarianism and changed his name from Snoop Dogg last year.
