Soaps: Heather Tom Moves to "Bold and Beautiful"

Aug 11, 2007

Maybe you can't go home again, but you can go back to work at the same studio. Ask Heather Tom, who appeared on "Young and Restless" from 1993 to 2003 and won two daytime Emmys in the process. She heads to "Bold and Beautiful" this week. Y&R and B&B have studios next to each other. Tom will be playing Brooke and Donna Logan's little sister, Katie. Katie is a rarity in the Logan family as she is not a man-hungry schemer.

Tom's role is a six-month deal. Tom was recently written out of "One Life to Live," where she played Kelly Cramer. In her four years at OLTL, Tom garnered an Emmy nomination -- and rather weak storylines. This year, her character, Kelly, and Kelly's husband, Kevin, rode off into that happy soap opera sunset.

"Days of Our Lives" is shaking up things behind the scenes. The 42-year-old NBC soap opera named Edward Scott co-executive producer. Marnie Saitta is the show's new casting director.

"I am very enthusiastic about the important changes for "Days of Our Lives" that Edward Scott will bring as co-executive producer," announced Ken Corday. "Ed comes with more than 20 years experience with 'The Young and the Restless' and brings a new, vibrant, creative energy and strength to this all-important position of leadership.

"'Days' will benefit greatly from Ed's direction. The viewers will also be thrilled with the exciting changes in the days to come. I would like to thank former Co-Executive Producer Steve Wyman, Supervising Producer Roy Steinberg and Casting Director Fran Bascom for their service and friendship over the years. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors."

Both Edward Scott and Marnie Saitta come to Corday Productions having most recently served on the long-running CBS daytime drama "Young and Restless." Edward Scott had an extensive tenure with the show, most recently as supervising producer. He is credited for 15 Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, with five wins.

"We are thrilled to have Ed and Marnie join the 'Days of Our Lives' team," said Annamarie Kostura, vice president of NBC Daytime. "Their vast experience in the world of daytime dramas will bring an exciting and welcome addition to the show."

"As a longtime fan of 'Days of Our Lives,' I am excited to join the production team," said Scott. "I look forward to the challenges ahead in delivering even more exciting programming to 'Days' many fans. I'm fully committed to bringing renewed success to this American Icon."

Lord knows the "One Life to Live" police force has never solved a crime, so they are calling in the FBI. Hunt Block (ex-Craig, "As The World Turns") will play the still-looking-for-a-name character. The federal agent comes to town in search of a missing person.
