Susan Boyle has made record CD pre-order sales on Amazon.com, the online retailer said. Customers are rushing the internet site with orders for the upcoming I Dreamed A Dream, an album that is Boyle's first and promises to bring her rousing, uplifting melodies to the yuletide season in a still depressed US economy.

Boyle has been busy recording the album under the guidance of her mentor Simon Cowell. Since being plucked from obscurity by Britain's Got Talent, she has rocked to world fame via YouTube and her story has stolen the hearts of millions.


Not only is the album, which goes on sale on November 24, the top CD pre-order in the US, it has eclipsed world sales for the 14-year history of the Amazon website.

Amazon would not provide its exact pre-order figures. "Susan's album is clearly capturing the hearts of our customers around the globe," said Craig Pape, its senior manager of music.
