Sarah Palin is now officially America's most loved politician and is a historic figure as she is the first woman ever nominated by Republicans to be second in line to the presidency. One would believe that everyone is trying to get an interview with her and surely daytime TV queen Oprah Winfrey has her call in, right? Not today.

The Oprah Palin Showdown

According to a report from Matt Drudge, insiders claim that there will be no invitation yet and the staff is divided and the debate is raging on whether to seek an interview with Sarah Palin. Should they have an Oprah Palin showdown? Oprah Winfrey is a very vocal backer of Democratic nominee Barack Obama and said she cried her eyelashes off when she listened to his speech two weeks ago.


Sarah Palin has burst on the scene like a phoenix and is now more popular than Barack Obama according to a poll from Rasmussen Reports. It certainly would make for good ratings and it would be interesting to see if Oprah could put her friendship with Obama aside and be fair to Sarah.

There are only 60 days until the election, so it will be interesting to see how many shows the McCain campaign allows Sarah Palin to appear on as they will certainly use her soaring popularity in various ways.


Update - TMZ says Oprah says no way and released this statement. "The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."
