Tori Spelling Underweight Charges - Actress Blames Swine Flu for Weight Loss
Jun 19, 2010
Tori Spelling has hit back at claims she is underweight and has an eating disorder, saying that her weight loss has been caused by swine flu, stomach pains, migraines and nerve problems.
The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star’s new book, Uncharted TerriTORI, reportedly includes details of the three times she was hospitalised last year. Spelling also explains that three rounds of antibiotics she was prescribed caused her severe stomach pain.
“I've never had a great stomach, but [being ill] just completely tore up my stomach and broke down my immune system, and I've basically just been a mess ever since, stomach-wise. It's about rebuilding my immune system," she told USA Today.
Addressing the pressures associated with the repeated speculation about her body, the 37-year-old said: "I'm a role model for a lot of women out there, so I hate that they say these things unwarranted, without any research and facts. I think it's doing a disservice to women out there that look up to any celebrity."
