TV Buzz! Jon & Kate Gosselin, TLC Fight; George Lopez & Wanda Sykes Late Night

Nov 6, 2009

Are George Lopez and Wanda Sykes changing the look of late night television? David Letterman has survived a sex scandal complete with interns and a sex tape scare, so they may not be completely transforming the time slot, but at least the two brilliant comedians will give viewers another option for late night. More TV buzz...if its Friday, jon Gosselin and his wife kate must be fighting over something. Both items follow below.

One
- Television network TLC will call Hailey Glassman, the on-off girlfriend of Jon Gosselin, to take the witness stand in a lawsuit it filed against the reality TV dad. TLC, the distributor of Jon & Kate Plus 8, has filed the suit charging Gosselin is in breach of contract.

The father of Lindsay Lohan, Michael, will also be subpoenaed in the case. Lohan and Gosselin are friends, having bonded as divorced dads with celebrity aspirations. Lohan is embroiled in his own off-screen family drama with Lindsay, who he claims publicly is spiralling into drug addiction. Gosselin, formerly a co-star of Jon & Kate Plus 8, is in the midst of a divorce proceeding with his wife, Kate, and has pulled the plug on TLC's filming of their eight children.

Maryland's Circuit Court of Montgomery County granted motions filed by the network's lawyers to depose Glassman, 22 and Lohan, 49, as well as Gosselin's lawyer Mark Heller, manager Michael Heller, bodyguard Thomas Meinelt and his talent representative, Matthew Kirschner. Jon is accused of making unauthorised television appearances while he was under contract to TLC.

Two - George Lopez (and) Wanda Sykes are changing the look of late night TV, argues Eric Deggans, the St.Petersburgh Times media critic.

Lopez’s late night talk show begins Nov. 9 on TBS, while on Saturday, Sykes will become the first black woman to host a network late night talk show when The Wanda Sykes Show takes MAD TV's 11 p.m. time slot.
