Honda has decided to use the sex appeal of Hollywood to try and sell America on its new fuel cell car, the FCX Clarity. According to a release from the car company film producer Ron Yerxa will take delivery of the first FCX Clarity in July. If you are in Hollywood you might also see Jamie Lee Curtis and her filmmaker husband Christopher Guest driving around in the snappy little vehicle as well.

The remaining lucky drivers for Honda’s next-generation fuel cell vehicle are business owner and car enthusiast Jim Salomon along with actress Laura Harris; and Jon Spallino, already the world’s first retail fuel cell vehicle customer, who has been leasing the current generation FCX since 2005. Yerxa, Harris and Spallino attended the event in Japan.


Actress and green advocate Laura Harris learned about the FCX Clarity from a friend and test drove a prototype car at the Los Angeles auto show in November 2007. Canadian-born Harris lives in Silverlake, California, and will refuel primarily in Burbank, California.

Honda is only charging $600 a month to lease what is arguably the most leading edge car on the road for three years. The lease includes maintenance and collision coverage. is it fair that the new car goes to the privileged and is this a good marketing ploy?
