Wes Welker Amphetamines Suspension - ESPN's Adam Schefter Says Denver Broncos WR Gets 4 Game Suspension
Wes Welker has been suspended for Amphetamines, a report has claimed. The Denver Broncos Wideout will get four games out of the Broncos lineup per NFL drug testing guidelines for the use of amphetamines, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Welker had been out after a concussion forced him from the field in game three of the NFL pre-season, but it appeared he would be cleared to play this Sunday, week one of the National Football League season.
Unless Welker is able to win on an appeal, that means record setting QB Peyton Manning will only have one wide receiver left from last season's opening day roster to throw to for opening day 2014.
Demaryius Thomas will be back at wideout to start this year for the Denver Broncos, but it appears Wes Welker will be under suspension and Eric Decker, a starter from last season for the Broncos is now playing for the New York Jets.
For fantasy football team owners - Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders just got a whole lot more valuable and if the is available and you have Welker on your fantasy football team, pick up Sanders now.
Isaiah Burse, Cody Latimer and Andre Caldwell are listed as the back up wide receivers for the Denver Broncos for the 2014 season, so Welker's suspension is a huge blow to the Broncos' receiving game on the field and will be a headache for fantasy football team owners who own Welker.
But… the suspension is only for four games, so Wes will be on the field for a possible twelve games this season.
If he can continue to pass his drug tests.
