Wipeout Contestant Death Investigation - Tom Sparks Possible Pre-Existing Condition

The death of Tom Sparks, a contestant in the ABC TV reality show Wipeout is under investigation and may have been from a pre-existing medical condition. According to a CNN report, the 33-year-old former TV host's death "was likely was caused by a pre-existing condition, but the Los Angeles County coroner's office is still examining all possibilities," the network's news service reports.
"Tom Sparks appears to have died of a stroke after trying to complete an obstacle course stunt for the reality competition show," the Los Angeles times adds in a separate report, citing "preliminary medical findings.".

"There's nothing we can confirm until we look at everything," the coroner's office told CNN. "We don't want to jump to any conclusions yet."
The Times article notes that Endemol USA, which produces "Wipeout," requires contestants to sign a release and take a physical exam before their participation." the report claims he didn't list one.
"We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family," ABC and Endemol said in a joint statement. "This is a tragic loss and our thoughts are with them at this time."
