When Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens appeared on Good Morning America to promote High School Musical 2, they seemed more interested in each other than in the film! "They had a lot of fun together," says a witness. "Before the show, they sat in a corner eating breakfast and laughing."

In fact, when Vanessa, 18, was asked off the air what her musical influences are, Zac, 19, answered for her: West Side Story, the witness says, adding, "They know each other so well, he finishes her sentences!"


And there are gifts. He recently bought her an iPhone and loaded it with his favorite music, says an insider. One price of Zac's fame - the paparazzi. While vacationing in Hawaii with Vanessa the twosome were beset by paparazzi, who snapped them nuzzling and hand-holding and generally confirming the rumor that they are an item.

"I don't want to be the 19-year-old kid who has his relationships all over the media," Efron says. "I approach dating in a very lax way. A lot of things can get blown out of proportion. I'd rather be completely anonymous."


But he still remains humble. "He's what a 19-year-old should be," says James Marsden, who plays dance show host Corny Collins in "Hairspray." "He's very intelligent, he's very talented, and he has zero ego."
